Swipe a Date

30 Apr

We all know, with it being 2014, a lot of people are meeting prospective dates/partners via online dating websites.  I am not immune to this phenomenon, since this is how I met my boyfriend.  With our crazy lives and love of technology, it makes sense to merge the two.

However, I’ve recently learned of a new phone app for dating that’s taken online dating and being impersonal and shallow to a whole new level.  It’s called Tinder and it’s interesting and disturbing at the same time.

You download the app to your phone and then you peruse the men or women at your leisure (and pleasure).  If you are interested, you swipe one way and if you’re not, you swipe the other way.  It’s kind of like shopping for shoes or purses online, except these are humans.

I guess if I was in my 20’s, it would be fun to swipe away, knowing this is not a serious form of meeting someone…or is it?  Who knows.  All I know is it’s taken the idea of courtship and flushed it down the toilet.

I’m hoping the next phone app will not only allow you to swipe and select, but have the date delivered to your door and take you on the date you’ve customized in the “Preferences” section of your profile.

If the date isn’t delivered as ordered, you can return on the spot and a replacement will be sent in 30 minutes or less.  Now, that’s my kind of dating service.
